What is “God”?

The word “god” gets tossed around a lot. Even those who are atheists say that they don’t believe in “god.” Every religion has a name they call this supreme idea or entity.

In reality these are just human words which only make sense to the people stating them. Our Sunday discussion last week about “Breaking Free” touched upon religion as a human construct that shifted and changed from the original revelation of the founder to just a few generations after their leaving this planet to a massive shift in our present day.

The history of religions involves the insertions of manmade ideas and dogma that force the participants to follow specific rules and regulations. Many of which are simply controlling mechanisms.

I have had numerous extremely intelligent people, who considered themselves Atheists, come to church to argue with me about the meaning of God. In just about every case when they stated what they had against with their concept of God, I agreed with them.

There is No Supreme Being sitting somewhere “Out There” looking down on us and judging our actions. There is however a Creative Energy that is spread equally throughout this universe and is constantly expanding. That energy is within every planet, plant, animal, human, element and down to a sub-atomic level. It is the energy that connects it all together.

We can see this interdependence in our physical world by the example of our environment dramatically changing when something is disturbed. We then have the loss of vegetation and animal species right before our eyes. We are seeing this with the environmental shift occurring throughout our planet in this moment. August was the hottest month every recorded in human history. Sea-levels are rising while snowpack in our mountains that provide our needed water supply is shrinking rapidly.

Since change is occurring on a global scale then it requires that we come “together” and work toward solutions rather than fighting one another. There is No God to strike down evil and raise up good. There IS, however, a Law of Cause and Effect. What we have destroyed in most cases we can correct. When there was a stop in global transportation during the last Pandemic, the earth began to heal. Now we are moving in the opposite direction “full speed ahead!”

The only God that we can invoke, is the Creative Energy within us all. By working together with the energy of Love at the forefront of all that we think, say and do THAT is God in action.
